Preface <\/span><\/h2>\n

Imagine getting into your car and driving to a friend. You drive away from a parked position, go over a couple of junctions, maybe overtake some cyclists and park it close to your friend\u2019s house when you arrive.
All the actions you\u2019re performing here are described in this document. The aim of this document is to give you an idea of what situations you can expect in traffic and how you can solve them. We will use this document also as a learning plan on our road to make you a safe driver. The index, from top to bottom, shows the buildup and the structure of the course. Before every lesson read the corresponding chapter\/paragraph so you can prepare yourself for the lesson, maybe do some more research yourself and ask questions. In this way the lessons also will be a lot more efficient ! <\/span><\/p>\n

Summary <\/span><\/h3>\n

Part I is about car control and not extensively described in this document. Part II is about driving on straight and curvy roads. When you drive, you can see it as driving from junction to junction. These straight and curvy roads are the connecting roads between the junctions. Important skills here are the looking technique and position on the road. Part III describes the special maneuvers shortly.
Part IV is about traffic situations. Described here are the different traffic situations you can encounter (and have to solve) when driving a car. Important elements in traffic situations are: looking technique, priority, position on the road and signaling. <\/span><\/p>\n

Progress <\/span><\/h3>\n

You can follow your own progress during the course by consulting the \u201cvorderingenkaart\u201d (progress sheet) in the RijbewijsApp. Meaning of the numbers in the vorderingenkaart: <\/span><\/p>\n

    Participating in traffic <\/span><\/h2>\n

    Danger and hinder <\/span><\/h3>\n

    It’s not allowed to make maneuvers that cause or could cause danger to other road users. Also it’s not allowed to cause unnecessary hindrance for other road users.
    <\/span>Note: <\/strong>it’s not always possible to go through traffic without hindering other road users. For example if you’re trying to park in a small street, drivers behind you sometimes have to wait for you. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Adjusted behaviour <\/span><\/h3>\n

    You should always adjust your speed according to the other traffic and the traffic situation. A driver who adjusts his behavior well, will not hinder the other traffic unnecessarily and will not cause danger for other road users.
    <\/span>Note: <\/strong>a lot of students misinterpret this and they are just refusing to stop the car because they think they will hinder the other traffic by doing this. A lot of times you just have to make a stop in traffic to make a safe solution for the situation ahead of you. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Decisive behaviour <\/span><\/h3>\n

    Predictability in behavior of road users is what makes the traffic safe. Hesitant behavior in traffic must be avoided as much as possible. Giving priority for no reason or waiting unnecessarily long at a junction are examples of indecisive behavior. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
